Doom Patrol

Sentient brick , rats and cockroaches make out , an intact street of mass having asimultaneous coming . DC Universe’sHBO Max’sDoom Patrol is n’t afraid to draw from the uncanny regions of its comic playscript lineage to tell a wild story that ’s also relatable . The absurdism lead rearing in Doom Patrol spend a penny it feel like one of the most naturalistic superhero evidence out there , because it understands that comic Christian Bible shows and films are , by their nature , kind of ridiculous . Also : sex ghosts .

Tuca & Bertie

Created by Bojack Horseman manufacturer Lisa Hanawalt , Tuca & Bertie took the surrealism of a show about a sawhorse actor and crank it up to 11 . Not only is it a narration aboutanthropomorphic birdsliving in an apartment together , but it also feature mountains shaped like booby and a neighbour whose head was a houseplant . Even though the show is a bonafide Where ’s Waldo of strange sighting , it told exceedingly affecting stories of systemic favoritism , anxiety , and coping with a history of sexual assault . Netflix invalidate the show after one season , but luckily the birds willfly again next yearon Adult Swim .

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

If you told me the show about a faux Dr. Who ( starring an worker from Doctor Who ) who traveled through time to stop over the man who murdered his married woman and small fry would one Clarence Day become themost ridiculous showon the CW , I would ’ve tell you to go home and sleep it off . But alas , that ’s exactly what ’s happened . Legends of Tomorrowhas acquire to adopt its own silliness , with the fate of the world hinge on a group of misfits who constantly jeopardize the spacetime continuum and transform into giant gorge animal that clinch demons to death .

Rick and Morty

Adventure Time

One of the best places to look for absurdism on television is tyke ’s shows . This goes all the means back to the mean solar day ofRocko ’s Modern Lifeand Aaahh ! Real Monsters , among so many others . Nowadays , we ’ve got show likeSteven UniverseandGravity Fallsgiving us an escape from world , but the one that really took up that classical ‘ 90s mantle isAdventure Time . It ’s about a male child and his adoptive blood brother , who also happens to be a dog that can change his size and shape at will . Together , they venture through the Land of Ooo — solicit royalty and hanging out with a pseudo - Gameboy that was so democratic he got his own spinoff movie .

The Good Place

The afterlife can surely be a chaotic place , huh?The Good Placewas a serial that took four characters , who could be classified as the Four Temperaments , and put them in a world of livable bedlam — run by a demon ( Ted Danson ) who was keen on torturing them for eternity with the absurdity of quotidian obstacle . It was about Eleanor ( Kristen Bell ) and her companion finding themselves in the philosophic avatar of “ the Absurd ” to witness purpose again , mean the good in themselves and each other .
