Would you believe that some of the internet ’s fakery even comes from some of the world ’s best news channels ? You would ? Then you ’re way forrader of me . Today we have nine images you may have seen floating around this big , beautiful , deceitful internet of ours . And they ’re all fake in one way or another .
1. Isthisreal lightning flashing over a volcanic eruption?
The BBC is one of the most trusted news source in the cosmos . But its reputation took a major hit this week after it was revealed that itfaked footageof lightning in a volcano for a telecasting special called Patagonia : Earth ’s Secret Paradise . Even Gizmodo got take in in bythe deception .
The producers of the BBC show superimposed lightning that was film in 2011 over a volcanic eructation from 2015 . As Casey Chan said when the video was doing the rounds , “ it almost looks like a painting that ’s been enliven . The burst of bolts almost look false . ”
It did look fake ! Because it was ! Sometimes nature ’s wizard fast one calculate too good to be reliable . And sometimes that ’s because they are indeed right smart too in effect to be true .

2. Isthisthe author of That’s So Raven, Edgar Allan Poe?
There ’s a Twitter account calledAhistoricalPicsthat use derisory photos and captions to mock those history - in - pictures history we all know and love . These supposedly actual Twitter accounts often just steal tweets from each other , make Twitter ’s version of an ouroboros – or , perhaps more accurately , a human centipede .
So it ’s not surprising , ( yet still hilarious ) , that History_Pics , an business relationship with near 1.7 million follower , stole a tweet from AhistoricalPics – the parody story . Needless to say , Edgar Allan Poe did n’t pen the come to TV serial That ’s So Raven . Though admittedly , I would ’ve loved to see that show adapt Poe ’s short storyThe Cask of Amontillado . That ’s so Mason .

3. Isthisa real Coca-Cola ad?
No , that is n’t a genuine Coke ad showing how the humanity of story brutally conquered the world . curiously enough , it ’s an ad for advertising itself and was n’t O.K. by the Coca - Cola company .
“ How did Coke succeed where history ’s most challenging leadership failed ? ” the ad read . “ By choosing the right weapon . Advertising . ”
As the advertising bloggerCopyranterpoints out , this ad probably comes from a eighties advertizing patronage journal ( based on the baptismal font ) , and was produced by a Texas - found agency called The Richards Group . Is the ad insensitive ? Sure . Was it made by Coke or any of its challenger ? No .

4. IsthisObama on the phone?
It ’s 3AM and your children are safe and at rest . But there ’s a phone in the White House and it ’s surround . Something ’s happening in the world . Your right to vote will resolve who answers that call . Whether it ’s someone who already recognize the world ’s leaders ; cognize the armed services ; someone prove and ready to precede in a dangerous humankind , it ’s 3AM and your nestling are safe and asleep . Who do you require answering the phone ?
Clinton ’s advertizement ran during the popular primary season and was supposed to stir fear that Obama did n’t have enough experience in foreign policy and should n’t be trusted . And we all know how the quietus of that principal season panned out .

5. Isthisan opium party in 1920?
As Twitter debunkerHoaxEyepoints out , the exposure above does n’t show a real - liveliness opium party . It actually comes from a soundless Gallic moviecirca 1920 . The moving picture , Dandy - Pacha , was organize by Georges Rémond , and while it looks like a mighty fun time , it ’s not a candid photograph of the great unwashed chasing the dragon .

6. Isthisa Florida couple who were arrested for selling tickets to heaven?
No , these people were n’t halt for selling ticket to heaven . AsSnopespoints out , it ’s a total and complete lie , fabricated by the false news siteStuppid . Anyone overtake around this account as honest probably should ’ve seen the name of the news program land site as their first clue that this one is a hoax . The people sport in the photo had nothing to do with Stuppid ’s preposterous phoney story .

7. Isthisa raccoon helping his kitten friend?
Could it be ? Is this raccoon helping his little kitten buddy by kindly add him to some friendly humanity ? Does this photo restore your faith in humanity , or raccoonanity or whatever ? Well , train to be disappointed . It ’s a fake , as you’re able to see by the original pic on the right field .
And as the legendary Twitter debunkerPicPedantpoints out , it ’s an old fake , dating back to at least2010 . But that has n’t stopped it from being spread out far and panoptic . Raccoons are actually quite vicious . If you ever see a raccoon mildly bringing you a live CT , be prepared to step outside and see The Rapture or something .

8. Isthisa real sign in Michigan calling for the death of America?
These day it ’s easy to make phony signs on the cyberspace . Like , really easy . And the sign above it just one example of the thousands you ’ll find online .
How easy ? Well , here ’s a sign I made using one of those church mark makers . And I assure you it ’s 100 pct dead on target .
