If I enjoin you that the Flash was the least interesting part of last night ’s Flash installment , you might be a bit concerned — it does n’t sound like a good thing . But it is when the DC fighter Firestorm finally takes middle phase , and almost all the other graphic symbol — even Cisco and Caitlin — get compelling conflict ! No , really !
“ The Nuclear Man ” is yet another quality episode , and I consider we can safely assume that the show has take away off its preparation wheels , so to verbalise , and palpate positive enough to do more than just present a lusus naturae - o’-the - hebdomad for Barry to campaign . Once there , Caitlin puts Firestorm on a drug cocktail of anti - psychotics , so Stein , who ’s primarily in care of the body , can remember a morsel easier . In fact , Firestorm is already run low when Wells and Cisco end modding the whatsit into the whozis , so if Wells were being purely drive by malefic / revenge / selfishness , he could easily have claimed he could n’t cease it and get Ronnie / Stein blow up at a safe space . So Wells appear to make a rather noble ritual killing to aid someone , at the price of his plan to … do whatever he wants to do . The mystery deepens , and I love how the show is managing to keep him on the razor ’s edge of practiced and evil , even as we ( seemingly ) know he killed Barry ’s mommy . That said , Cisco finds time to make a quick call to Joe during all of this ; he checked the blood anyways , and while Wells was n’t a peer , Barry was . But Barry as an grownup .
That would be a hell of a cliffhanger for The Flash to terminate on , but instead Barry and Caitlin runs to the nearby badlands to attach the harness to Ronnie / Stein . ( As you might have guessed , Wells ’ harness has been modified into the plan you see above , and which is simply place over his jacket crown . )
And then Ronnie botch up .
And then the Flash has to outrun a goddamned mushroom swarm .
Holy dogshit , guys . If The Flash were still examine to bang out those simpler , stand - alone episodes , seeing Barry assay to outrun a atomic detonation while carrying Caitlin would have made the episode completely worthwhile by itself . alternatively , we get that plus interesting conflicts for Cisco and Caitlin , the mystery of Wells deepens , and we carry on to learn more insane , shocking detail about the slaying of Barry ’s mom . Seriously , if Warner Bros. was sincerely concerned about tone of all their DC shows , they ’d send the guys behind Gotham a DVD of the last three episodes of The Flash , stat . It might not be the smartest , coolest , or best - looking show on TV , but it ’s gone from a balmy pleasure to a hebdomadal delectation . And I see perfectly no reason why that would stop any time soon .

• There ’s a flashback where Barry randomly meets Dr. Stein on a train , and it ’s weirdly flirty . Just an notice .
• flavor , I have n’t seen Robbie Amell in anything , so I ca n’t vouch for his acting attainment . But it seems to me he did a pretty great impression of Victor Garber ’s language patterns and botheration when play Ronnie as master by Stein . Very nice employment !
