How Mysterio’s Mystery Was Crafted inSpider-Man: Far From Home

Mysterio . The name alone can give goosebumps to even the most introductory comic book sports fan . He ’s one of Spider - Man ’s mostdevious , cunning , and visually stunning villain . And yet , it was n’t until Spider - Man : Far From Home that he was brought to the big screen . Oh , and by the way , this sentence he ’s not a villain , he ’s a hero .

Speaking with manager Jon Wattsas well as manufacturer Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal , we asked about the theme of making Mysterio , played by Jake Gyllenhaal , a hero sandwich when he ’s always been a scoundrel in the comic strip — and then , well , everything that issue forth after that .

A universe that , because of old Spider motion picture , does n’t necessarily have to line up with anything in the cartoon strip .

“ I think Mysterio was the proper type because of the times that we ’re know in , ” Pascal enunciate . “ The film is plain about ‘ Do you believe what ’s right in front of you or not ? ’ And it is about that in every attentiveness . It ’s about that in term of Peter not wanting to deal with what he ’s feeling inside and sort of being in disaffirmation and run away . And it ’s about that in term of Mysterio ’s story because it ’s dead consistent that he has come from another Earth . ”

If living in 2019 has learn us anything , Far From Home hammer home the point even more . Look deep . Never trust what you see . Which is just oh so damned Mysterio .
