The mayor has been hosting the lunch event since 2008 for former and current serving soldiers and the beneficiaries and supporters of three national service charities. Three charities – ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund – were the recipients of the special fund that the Mayor hopes will top $2.63 million (£2 million) this year. It has so far raised $2.5 million since 2008.
